"A really rare and wonderful preschool centre. Our daughter started at 9 months, and she was wrapped up in so much support and care during her 4 years there. The staff have stayed consistent through her time which provided so much structure and familiarity. All the staff genuinely care about the children and their development and the community that surrounds the centre is diverse and authentic. The centre is well run, clean and engaging and the owners are hands on and attentive to the overall needs of the parents. We could not be more happy with our choice to choose Alpha over the out-of-a-box childcare centres that pop up everywhere."

Alpha is the best preschool ever! I was amazed every staff know my name as well as my son's name on the second visit. They always reported to me what my kid was doing when picking him up. Well-communicated, super friendly all staff, and clean environment. Really recommend. We miss them so much!!

Alpha preschool has been a wonderful place of learning and adventure for our children. The teachers have gone above and beyond to help the children learn, they focus on strengths and interests and nurture these. Alpha preschool is family and community orientated, it feels very much like an extended family, which can be a rare find in some of the newer models in child care out there currently.

Excellent day care, right in the heart of the community. The teachers are fantastic, friendly and help our kids so much. They get to do lots of fun activities both indoors and outdoors & are always going off out on excursions to local places. The owners always try to be accommodating with short notice requests to change days/ hours etc. Highly recommend.

Your questions answered!

Got questions about what to expert for your little ones? Ask us or see the below to see our most commonly asked questions.

1. What age groups do you cater to at Alpha Preschool?

We welcome children aged 0–6 years, with a separate dedicated plan for each child. This includes care for infants, toddlers, and preschoolers in a warm, nurturing environment.

2. What is your learning approach?

Our child-led and play-based curriculum encourages curiosity, promotes confidence, and teaches essential life skills. Each week and activity is built around a central theme, teaching them the basics of maths, language skills, science and more.

We also provide at-home learning programs for our tamariki, designed to promote learning at home without needing any special supplies or learning tools.

3. Do you offer government funding or subsidies?

Yes! Families can claim up to 25% off fees through government funding, making quality early childhood education more accessible. We also offer ECE for up to 6 hours a day or 20 hours a week for 3+ year olds.

4. What are your teacher-to-child ratios?

We maintain small class sizes and only admit 35 students a year, to ensure every child receives individual attention, fostering a close-knit and supportive learning environment.
Our ratios are better than ministry requirements, meaning we have less children to teachers than most other centres

5. Can I book a tour or free trial days?

Absolutely! We offer two free trial days so you can experience our preschool environment firsthand. Contact us to book a visit!

6. Do you have spare diapers on the premise?

Yes, we have spare diapers and other emergency supplies available.

7. Do you have a dedicated sleep room for the babies?

Yes, we have a dedicated nursery and sleep room, as well as regular sleep routines depending on nga tamariki age.

8. Do you have a primary care teacher?

Yes, we have designated care teachers, depending on the age range of your child, to ensure personal care and development.

9. Are children allowed to bring cake on their birthday?

Most definitely! We celebrate every child's birthday with a cake and some songs of their choosing.
You will have to tell us the ingredients in case of allergies.

10. What is your staff turnover like?

We have a low staff turnover, with our oldest staff member having joined us for two decades! Our shortest stay — 5 years.

11. Do you have free play?
